i'm not sure if its just my computer, but it seems that quick gallery creator no longer works since flash isn't supported anymore. will this feature get fixed or will we need to host our photos on flickr/photobucket/etc now?

Probably the later. With UER no longer being updated I doubt it'll get fixed. I host offsite anyway though because the uploader compression reduces photo quality.

I take that back, it did work last night but here is the latest:

Adobe Flash Player EOL General Information Page

Since Adobe will no longer be supporting Flash Player after December 31, 2020 and Adobe will block Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021, Adobe strongly recommends all users immediately uninstall Flash Player to help protect their systems.

Some users may continue to see reminders from Adobe to uninstall Flash Player from their system. See below for more details on how to uninstall Flash Player.

I posted a pic yesterday but now it is officially not working for good.

We are lucky that Av even still has this site hosted. In a post a couple years back suggesting he update the site, he himself admitted that other things in his life have greater priority, so I doubt he will update it now either. He still deserves credit for not completely abandoning us. I am just glad I've had a place to lurk all these years (albeit silently) - a platform that isn't dominated by the Maxs and Colbys and Propers with their click baits and staging and total lack of site concealment. Sure that tard Max has tried here, and ruffled some feathers, but he has not exactly been rec'd with open arms and is far from getting the pedestal mounted "respect" he thinks he deserves and does unfortunately get from outside UER. I also remember stumbling across years old posts of UER essentially chasing that arrogant douchenozzle Seph Lawless out of here. I'll continue to lurk here, updates or not, as long as the real explorers who have actual respect for sites continue to post/link.

I appreciate that Av does have the site posted. I'm pretty new so I wanted to see what others were doing now that the Quick Gallery Creator is no longer active.

Would anyone care to comment? Thank you

Hosting images elsewhere and inserting them has always resulted in higher quality uploads. The prospect of losing Flash bummed me out at first, but really the Quick Gallery Creator was just a convenience to soothe my laziness. A lot of folks here like Flickr. I used to use TinyPic before it also died. I don't post much because I haven't been able to get out exploring a ton, but for my last photos I used postimage.org. I know you posted a set on the 15th - what did you end up deciding to do, Mr. Nosey?

Thanks for the response. I too used postimages.org and it seems to work well. I got all worried about having to make a change for nothing.

I do think the death of flash will be a serious blow for UER, just in terms of the minor inconvenience leading to people being less likely to post. Additionally, photosets that are posted will have less longevity as external hosting is prone to dead links as sets are deleted or moved. UER recently saw an uptick in traffic after Blackhawk stopped drowning people out due to being banned but I'm afraid that this will be a serious blow to a site that's already seeing far less traffic than it used to.

Chat also used flash as well, although last time I tried it there wasn't anyone in there (like 1 yr ago maybe?)

I'd just use something like Imgur to host and embed them. Just make sure your logged in when you're uploading or else the images will be deleted after a certain period.

I mean Adobe gave us a 2 year warning, the website should've been updated. This is probably one of the oldest to biggest Urbex sites. Hopefully it doesn't fall.

Yeah, all the cool kids use the unofficial spinoff UER Discord server these days, even though it's really its own thing not tied to UER despite sharing a couple mods.

FYI while the quick gallery creator is gone, you can still use the 'attach an image' button to quickly upload a single image to a post (and you can use it multiple times in the same post).

Cheers,

IT WORKS!!!!

But I think I prefer linking from my website, which looks like this:

Or, flickr which looks like this

Decew Fallls Waterfall by Freaktography, on Flickr

Anyone who doesn't know how to link from a web hosting service..

1 - Upload your pic to host
2 - Grab the URL of the image
3 - paste it in your thread/post
4 - select the whole URL in the post and click the image above of the picture, between the horizontal line and the bullet points

Then you get what I did above with the casket.

I feel like you all probably know this already though

Sure, FYI if you change the UER [ pic= to [ inp= it will make it inline, instead of the little thumbnail.

I just want to hop in here and say thanks Av for everything you do! I've been a lurker here a lot longer than my 1 year star would suggest and I think this site's got soul no other platform can offer and it isn't going to fall over something like flash. All my posts were done uploading one picture at a time any ways. Mostly because I'm not very tech savvy and I don't know any way to host my files somewhere else anonymously Point still stands. I fucking love UER.
