Built in 1914, this building was primarily used for overseas wireless telegraphy transmitting. Here, operators utilized morse code to send messages across the Pacific Ocean.

Legend has it that this station was the first to receive news of the Pearl Harbor Bombing in 1941, although there is little evidence to support this claim.

The building was set towards preservation in 1999, and currently has evidence of construction and gutting inside.

Wow! I've read about this place and it's history is really interesting. What is it's current disposition/fate?

When there is tranquility, you are in the right place. When there are no footprints, you are on the right path. When there are no tire tracks, you are on the right road.

Nice shots!
I'm amazed this place is in as good of condition as it is given who owns it.

Limited renovation, though I'm not sure for what purpose. The windows seem to have been somewhat unboarded. I'd suspect it will be used as an activity center of some sort. Might also be simply preservation of the structure, given the current state of the rest of the facility.

Sweet spot, really interesting story about the Pearl Harbor reference if it's true.

These are cool photos, thanks for sharing! I love finding places with a historical connection like that, that's really interesting. Would be awesome if the Pearl Harbor thing is true.

Any clue what the building came to be used for since WW2? Did it begin to handle other kinds of telecommunications, or has it just been sitting unused since the telegraphy transmitting declined?

I'm a radio communications history geek that lived in the SF Bay area 2002-2010 and I don't recognize the structure (& I'm not asking for the location) but expect I'm familiar with it by it's name/location and maybe would recognize it in shots that showed the overall structure & area.

Without any surviving antenna tower(s) or equipment inside that helps tell the story - and with several old West Coast HF radio receiving stations in-contention for having been the first to receive the news from Hawaii on 7 December 1941 -- it's great that someone is putting effort into maintaining & renovating the 'bones' of the building, but probably for some venture other than historical preservation.
