Many of you will be familiar with this former Borscht Belt resort. So I will spare you a lengthy write up on this location.
This is one of only a small handful of resorts left in The Catskills and is probably the most intact, at least at the time I was there.

I originally tried to access this one back in 2015 only to be thwarted by a crew working to clear the place out to make way for a renovation.
Of course those plans never came to fruition and the property became abandoned once again. In 2018 I began seeing A LOT of pictures pop up from this place. So I had to get down there as soon as possible before it ended up getting trashed.
I was lucky to get there just in time, as the vandalism was fairly minimal.
In the months following my visit it seemed like every time I would see a new shot posted the place just got worse.
Last I heard it was under new ownership and was locked back down again, but the damage had already been done.

I feel quite fortunate to have gotten to this one in time. Resorts are one of my favorite places to explore as they have such a great variety of things to see and shoot. This ended up being my favorite spot of 2018.

Penthouse Suite

Tea for Two

King for a Day

Rocky Racoon checked into his room
Only to find Gideon's bible

Grande Entrance

The Ancient Carvings

Umbrella Corporation

The coming attraction, the drop of a name

When we walked in the sands of the Waikiki
and I held you oh so tight

Spanish Villa

Mission Revival

Oxycotin. Xanax Bars, Percocets and Loritabs

I'm gonna soak up the sun

"If you french fry when you should have pizzaed you're gonna have a bad time"

The Lodge

In the forget-yer-skates dream

What size shoe do you take?

Dodecaheronal Monolith

Skate or Die

Am I interrupting something?

Love this place, went here right before the vandalism picked up. I really hope they do something with it, it's a shame to see the restoration plans falling through.

Oh man I love the Ice rink. The structure is typical, I've seen that kind of building so many times in operation but never when it was abandoned. Now it's done thanks to you.

Thanks! I feels to get there just before a place rapidly goes downhill. Especially since I am usually late to most places.

There would be now unfortunately. The theater in particular is pretty tagged up. Was very little graffiti here when I went.

I'm glad you were able to get down there before it went downhill as well. With the active resort right there it seems like this piece of property should have some potential

Oh wow you got in early. But that was still after it was cleared out, so it would have been similar to my trip just with less water damage. I would have loved to see it in 2014 or earlier.
We were actually searching for the center fireplace room the whole time and did not find it until the end. It's the old ski lodge and ice rink and is located all the way at the back of the property by the ski hill.
It was my favorite building. But unfortunately we had to rush through it. The sun was starting to go down and we had a long walk back to the car. Also we heard some strange noises when we were approaching that area. We never saw anyone, but we were definitely on edge.

The ice rink was very aesthetically pleasing for sure!

Oh my god! These photos, and this location, are incredible! I especially love the composition of "The coming attraction". And that "Dodecaheronal Monolith" tower, what a building. I bet it's so creepy when the sun goes down and it looms over you, completely dark.

I agree with what everyone else has said; this is a stellar setting!

I would add "The Lodge" to notable pics. I think the blown-out skylight takes away from it a little bit (nit pick) but the room itself SO COOL. I like the colours you captured and the mossy carpet looks out of this world.

But this place was supposed to reopen in 2020? Ha-ha.

Some time in late 2018, the tower was surveyed by a contractor to be imploded. All those orange paint marks in the tower are the charge locations.

Here it is, 2020 and NO SOAP.

It's going to be there for years to come.

This place had been falling into a state of disrepair before it even closed. The time to save the buildings has passed unfortunately.

Thanks! One of my favorites as well. That is from the top floor penthouse suite in the round building. The top floor was the only one with things still remaining in it.

Thank you so much for the kind words! That building it was drew me to this location in the first place. Very unique.

Thank you! The ski lodge & ice rink building was my favorite. Unfortunately it was allll the way in the back of the complex and we were already losing light when we got to it. We also felt as though someone else was in that area when we were there. The sense of unease and need to shoot quickly so we could walk off the property with some daylight left certainly hurt the quality of my shots.

I think this place was supposed to reopen in one way or another at least three times in the last decade! Not surprisingly all those plans have fell through. And so it continues to sit, being slowly destroyed by the elements, vandals and scrappers.
I do recall seeing the charge location marks.
