| Crosley Building entry by legaltoker69 1/19/2020 11:41 AM
| I'm writing these as a record for myself, I'd recommend just looking at the pictures these might be hard to read I first spotted the abandoned building after missing my exit coming into the city, ending up west bound on I-whatever. I saw plants growing from a heavily graffitied rooftop, it was really pretty, I knew i had to get there. The high quality as well as complete coverage of the rooftop graffiti suggested to me that the building and roof were accessible. I have a real thing for rooftops too, and the square tower coming up from the roof looked tempting. A few days later my friend came to the city to visit, we were stoned and speeding and looking for something fun so i suggested exploring what I had then learned to be the Crosley Building. We went riding around the area in the daytime to look for access. There was a cut portion of a fence that looked promising although it was hard to see an entrance from the road. We came back that night with a sober friend deciding to go through the hole and see what we can find, the hole being adjacent to a nearby factories parking lot, we had to wait for the local factory bubs to get off work. We got back there (its a dead end parking lot) and found some guys hanging out in their trucks, probably some straglers drinking or smoking weed after work. On the off chance they were narcs or attempting to conduct business we bounced and drove around, avoiding cop patrols who would love to see why WE were patrolling an empty industrial area. We parked on a deserted street (although it had quite a few cars) and walked around the corner and ducked into the fence. A loading docks garage door had been ripped open making a space just big enough to fit through. The inside was pretty fucked, plenty of standing water and nasty smells. The layout is basic, the floors are pretty open and the main stair is pretty simple. Its a bit weird when you get up because the center of the building is a courtyard, it fucks up the layout. The only way to access the tower seems to be from the roof, although you have to go through quite a bit of standing water. There's a few ladders that are sketchy at best but seem to be functional. The view from the roof is pretty nice, we ran into some high school kids on the way up. The place seems to be pretty crowded but the kids were friendly enough. I didn't get the chance to hit the tower because i was wearing converse and the standing water was too bad. I'd also like to go back and hit the courtyard, as well as do some more fucking around and climbing on the other fence. Bonus features: Steel Document Vault: Pretty cool Basement: The mold smell nearly knocked me down, it looked awful, i did not enter, I would imagine it to be flooded often. Elevator shaft: terrifying but neat, also dangerous. Abandoned Forklift Skate zone: some of the floors are huge and empty with very nice smooth concrete, would be good skateboarding in the daylight. Plenty of junk to make neat obstacles from. Recommendations: If I go back I'll go in the daylight. A respirator is not a terrible idea depending on what areas you go to. The office area is really stuffy/moldy since its carpeted. The basement is impossible to explore without some mold gear. A broom and a skateboard would be a good combo for some of the upper floors. Standing water is a problem on the first floor and the roof, so avoid if there was a recent rain Seems like a lot of kids hit this place so I'd imagine there are several entrances. Cop patrols might be an issue. 1.
