This is my first photo thread so if there is anything I need to know or anything I did wrong please let me know. Also I put my iPhone photos through TinyPic to get them on here so please excuse the potato quality, so if anyone knows of any way to keep the quality please let me know
Built in 1885, this mental institution housed the largest population in the Bay Area. It was originally modeled as a Kirkbride until the 1906 earthquake when it was demolished and labeled as the greatest loss of life in the South Bay. 117 patients and staff died and were buried in a mass grave on the site. Afterwards, the facility was rebuilt resembling a college campus. In March of 2009, the last patient left the facility.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get too many photos of the outside because of the patrolling security.
There is a small chapel on the property as well which is only a little terrifying at night time.
The main building had a basement which was incredibly dark and damp.
You know we had to find it..
My favorite photo of the set.
The upper levels of the main building were completely gutted. You can get to the roof though.
Unfortunately the property is being bulldozed. I definitely want to make it back at least one more time. It is 100% worth it.
