Adding to an existing location?
Posted on Forum: UER Forum
So there's a university that I go to that is on the map here. It's page hasn't been updated since 2004 and I've been exploring a lot of it. Is there any way for me to be able to add photos and information to an existing location page?

Do bear in mind that certain information may have been omitted for a reason when updating the location. For example, if the coordinates or real name are not included, that is probably intentional on the OP's part, so I personally try to respect that to avoid stepping on any toes. History and description tends to be a bit of a grey area given how easy it can be to find a location given that information, but you generally have lots of freedom on that. Adding photo albums and updating the status is a pretty safe move, and adding additional newer hazards to the hazard list is always a good thing. Conversely, posting PoEs is always a bad idea.

That all being the case, if the location entry is from pre- 2010, you're usually pretty safe when it comes to editing it. Oftentimes the original poster isn't even around anymore- you can click their username on the location (under 'created by ______') to see their profile, and when they last signed in. Generally speaking though, most people tend to be okay with other's updating their locations, especially when they are no longer in a position to do it themselves.

I've always been a proponent of a greater community involvement in the upkeep of the Database, so update away. The Database lives and dies on the contributions of UER members, and only by keeping the information it contains up to date can we ensure it stays a valuable resource and historical record.

The name of the university and everything is on the map. The coordinates aren't exact but I didn't wanna change that. Doesn't really matter, you can find it by googling it. I just would like to add photos we've gotten from places. They've only got 2 albums of very old photos from 15 years ago in one location. I've got better photos from the same location, not to mention another dozen places around campus.

I've actually checked, the OP for the university was last logged in around August of last year. I've sent him a message asking about campus in case he ever logs back in.
