Cotton Plant Arkansas entry by MidSouthUrbex 4/27/2017 2:17 PM
Recently we visited Cotton Plant Arkansas and went through the elementary and the high school. I am having issues uploading the images to my computer currently, but once I figure it out there'll be a few threads of images from the past two days and last weekend. Any way Cotton Plant is in the middle of nowhere Arkansas and was once probably a great town, but now is not much more than a main street. I just find it amazing how almost everything is abandoned and how, as you travel down main street, there is one house with people there and right next to it an abandoned one. Its just incredible, I wish we could have been able to spend more time there and to go through the rest of the buildings. The town is now mostly immigrants, and the number of children I'd guess around maybe 100, and that's every grade. While there we found a graduation paper that says that the senior class of 1997 was only 24 people. The High Schools last class was in 2004-2005 based on the papers still in the school, and the elementary was later but I don't really know when. It was incredible going through this town, and also very saddening as these places just rot, but I guess that's why we go. To take pictures and try and preserve the memory of these amazing places. Both had easy access and if your near Id recommend them both as they have several really cool photo opportunities. Including my favorite thing we saw, an old Upright Piano. I am a sucker for old pianos so that was my favorite thing, but there were several other really cool photo ops there. Enjoy, and let me know if anyone has any suggestions or ideas. Thanks, MidSouth

Cotton Plant has been on my map for a while now, but it really is in the middle of nowhere and I hadn't gotten around to it yet. It sounds like it might be worth a trip... Looking forward to photos!
