I was hoping to see some strange stuffed chicken or something. I wonder what they baked out there in the sticks? Pies!?! Cornbread? Hmmmmm!?! You know i would have to give you raves on your B&W The Sewing machine and that old bed caught my eye too.

Thanks.

I think the bake shop was typical stuff for the region. The owner was German Texan. Nothing was left in the taxidermy building. I had more shots that didn't come out because I left my tripod in my truck and was too lazy to go back. I may stop by again next month.

I love the sewing machine photo and the closeup of the doorknob, so lovely. Having recently moved here from the east coast, it's been so fascinating to see how different rural life is here compared to what I am used to. Great photos

Is that an actual printing mistake on the calendar for the 25th?

Thanks. Finding good rural stuff, even in Texas, is a challenge.

I don't think so. I think it is the day from the previous or next month.

Now this place has character! How cool!

I'm also especially a fan of the doorknob and the Singer, but all of these shots are great. I really like the room shot above the sewing machine too (the cowboy hat is a nice touch). The one thing that keeps bugging me about the doorknob is the actual knob is out of focus but the door itself isn't. That's probably just my weird taste coming out, or maybe a really wide aperture since you said you didn't have a tripod? Either way, this is a great set.
Thanks for sharing them with us!

Edit: I just wanted to add that I'm amazed at how well this/these structures appear to have withstood the test of time. Even the ceiling in the bedroom and all of the furniture seem to be in decent condition!
I just now put 2&2 together with your comment above on the date this place was built.
