Posted by robk700 Interesting. If Japan had landed forces in LA the military was to pull back into the mountains and desert. Then launch gorilla warfare. Why we don't have such sites.

Logistically it would have been impossible for Japan to do. If Japan lacked the resources to barely take Midway let alone Pearl Harbor, mainland USA was completely beyond their capabilities. The distance was a major logistical burden in its self.
In fact it was the Japanese who resorted to a half hearted attempt at unconventional warfare on mainland US on the Pacific side. They launched a bunch of incendiary devices attached to balloons. They caused more bewilderment than mayhem.
Attacking the USA was a big mistake for Japan. They lacked the resources to see it through.
Once provoked, the US resolve and industrial capacity was more than they bargained for.
It was also just bad timing for Japan; the nuclear age had dawned and the US wasted no time to exploit it's possible weapon potential to the fullest. The US was the only nation that had the resources and knowledge to do so at that time.
The USA shocked the world with its response to enemy aggression.
