Once upon a time, many years ago, there were a few places in the city that you just had to do. As they slowly got demo'd or repurposed, some of them got sealed back up and built around and seemed to be there but gone to the community.
However, sometimes the stars align, and places that were once thought to be inaccessible become accessible once again. Sometimes they stay open for awhile, other times they are sealed back up pretty quick.
After getting a message the other night from MattK detailing where they were going for the ue meet, one of the locations caught my eye. When the next message appeared, this time a picture, I knew one of my all time favourite places in the city was, at least temporarily, open again.
Knowing that it could be resealed at any moment, I met up with Scott and Matt and sure enough, success! After waiting out a bunch of pot smoking hipsters we made out attempt. Upon gaining entry, memories of previous trips came back and the smell was just the same as it always was. The spiral staircase, that first view of the city when you climb out on the roof. It was awesome to be back.
A couple more guys were on their way and when they got there, we had been inside for a few hours. However, they texted saying they couldn't find the poe and we decided to head down and figure out what was the issue. The issue being that the poe had been resealed while we were up top. Trapped briefly on the property we figured out an exit strategy and decided to call it a night.
Thanks guys for a great trip! On to the pics!
