In 1917 Camp Logan was built just west of Houston to train the American military during WW1. Open for only 20 months it closed in 1919 were it sat abandoned. In 1926 the 9,000 plus acre camp was sold to Houston and the city turned 1,500 acres of the main complex into a park and dedicated it to those who died in WW1. The park was named Memorial Park and aside from a golf course and tennes courts the park was left to nature. Nearly 100 years later if you know where to look and have a day to stroll into the forest hints of Camp logan can still be seen.
