Within walking distance from my new abode is this church. Still enjoying my UE playground. It was originally founded in 1892 as a mission and Sunday school. In 1893 became a church. The stone structure we see now was built around 1915. The church closed in 1999, musta been the Y2K scare. Unfortunately the main church elements like the arches of the naive were infilled with floors of classrooms so the interior is more school like than historic church.

Thanks for sharing such awesome photos! The last one w/ the Detroit Urb Ex graffiti gave me a smile.
The last time I checked it was sealed off, but I made it into the old Methodist church at Gratiot and Grand Blvd. a couple of times in the past. There is a biblical quote that was inscribed on the choir loft that reads, "...and they shall say God did this!" (or very close to that phrase). It looked so ironic and funny after the building was trashed out and ruined.

I was slinking my way around this place last time I was in Detroit but we got shouted out of the building. I never got to see the sanctuary, so I'm glad to see yours. Bummer about the graffiti, though, it wasn't there when I visited.
