After hearing so much about this place I went with a friend to check it out, and I can't tell you how satisfying it was. Besides the swimming pool, which is currently under construction, it is as accessible as ever.

1. We started the day off with a spot I personally haven't seen posted about that I stumbled upon with Google Maps. It appears to be a water treatment facility of some sort, and it appears a little reservoir used to exist nearby.

2. Probably best that it is fenced off. Especially at night it would be very easy to fall into the various drain openings.

3.

4.

5.

6.

7. In a garage we stumbled upon a little camp, which worried us a little bit.

8. It seemed as though it hasn't been used in a fair while.

9.

10. We decided to head to the more popular spots, starting with the 'hammerhead' buildings.

11.

12.

13.

14.

15.

16. Album cover?

17.

18. We were excited to find there was roof access..

19. only to realize that when standing you are extremely visible to the streets below. chemtrail cameo?

20.

21. Scott Pilgrim cameo?

22. Despite it's close proximity to still-active buildings, the gymnasium is very accessible at the moment.

23.

24.

25.

26.

27.

28. We headed to the popular barracks that are often used for airsoft battles. Most structures are basically copy/pasted, but the closer you get to the middle is when you find the unique structures.

29.

30.

31.

32.

33.

34. I do quite enjoy this one.

35.

36.

37. The color of this room was stunning thanks to the sun filtering through the ceiling.

38.

39.

40.

41. Our last stop was what appeared to be a warehouse that has taken some serious fire damage. More of it could have been explored but we didn't have proper flashlights.

42.

It may be alive, but I certainly couldn't call that "well". It's absolutely trashed by vandals.

This was a couple months back, all I could see were 4 or 5 people with hardhats going to work on the building. I want to just say they were sealing it up but I don't know why it'd require that many people. Not sure about it's current state.

Its been ~5 years since we had a real UER meet up here. We went to all the same places as your photos but man, what a shit hole this place has turned into in 5 years time. Not to say it wasn't in rough shape back then. The land has been walked all over by every person who stumbles upon UER with good intentions or not. Glad you had a great time and all but the state of the gymnasium is horrid. Hoping they level the shit out of this place and rebuild something soon before someone sets the whole area on fire.

Whoa, I went here recently, but totally missed most of it. Really only found the barracks and the Church, I guess I'll have to go back.

Weirdest thing I saw there was in one of those warehouses next to where the baseball field used to be (the one CSU Monterey used for a while)

It seemed like someone had stored their ENTIRE house in there. Clothes, furniture, boxes of letters and cards, kitchen stuff, you name it.

And there was also a very friendly young (or just small) racoon hanging out.

Someone else here had posted pix of the same warehouses(?) ...the one where there was an iMac all smashed up and a boat. Also hundreds of flyers from a Spanish language movie theater in Hollister or something.

You referred to some of the buildings as the "Hammerhead" block. I looked around for a map of the area and I couldn't find a lot. I'm curious how you researched this stuff. Or was it just colloquial knowledge passed on by exploring with others?

I paid a visit to this place recently (photos to come soon) and found a few of the places so many forum members have shown, but I couldn't find others -- the small theater for instance. Seemed like almost every building was exactly the same. It's sad to see that I missed out on the swimming pool by a year or so. It's also strange to see the abandoned buildings often right across the street from active housing and businesses. Weird juxtaposition.

Maybe we need to put together another meetup for us newbies.

It for sure isn't what it used to be.

My friends and I had many adventures out there. Each trip was a new adventure, each trip a new part to explore. A lot of people cut their teeth out there as far as learning infiltration, situational awareness, exploring in general and photography. Even though it's a dump now it's still a good place for people new to this activity.

Crazy difference, especially the pool. I truly would have liked to have been aware of this place 8 years ago.

Hard to believe it's been 8 years since I last visited this spot. There was very little (if any) graffiti back then.

These were from not long after Calvin's.

Paid another visit, this time making a more comprehensive sweep. Even a matter of months changes this place. More trash, more spray.

The first few are from the southern barracks and nearby church.
