Man. Looking back through some of my posts makes me remember why I don't post on this site anymore. With the exception of Genesha and Tunnel Runner, most memebers are counter productive. Its the reason why PNW UER is a disconnected community. Since I quit posting on this site and quit spending time bickering with the negative people on here, I've seen some amazing things. I'll take this site for what it is, and use it for ideas and clues. I wont be leaving anything behind though. So thank you pretentious uer users and thank you Genesha for helping me out.

I'm really confused by this post. Before you leave us, please shed some light on a few things. I'll take them line by line if you dont mind.

Most members are "counter productive"? I've read through EVERY ONE of your posts, including ones you just contributed to. The ONLY thing I could see that could even be REMOTELY construed as "counter productive" was the criticism that you post pics so we can see them instead of those "mini-pics" that get uploaded. In fact, you garnered a lot of praise on what I would consider otherwise mediocre photos - most of which were too dark in my opinion. For a new guy, you didnt get ANY of the trial by fire that most of us got when we came here.

Its the reason why PNW UER is a disconnected community.

No idea what you would consider a "connected UER" community and I've not been up to your neck of the woods, however judging from the number of posts that people up there post I would say its actually pretty active. On one of your posts about meet-and-greet's you yourself admitted that you needed to do a better job of trying to attend. Maybe its not the community but YOU thats disconnected.

Since I quit posting on this site and quit spending time bickering with the negative people on here, I've seen some amazing things.

This one was one of the most baffling of your ramblings. There are absolutely ZERO posts of you arguing with anyone on this site. Unless you are using another account and posting under a different identity or "bickering" privately with people, this makes no sense. Again I've read all of your posts and there is no evidence of this anywhere.

Next, you state that since you've ceased this activity it has freed you up to see so many amazing things. You have 25 posts in 6 months - how long was it taking you to type these things! Also, how much time were you spending bickering that you couldnt go exploring?

Which brings us finally to your parting passive-aggressive concluding statement:

I'll take this site for what it is, and use it for ideas and clues. I wont be leaving anything behind though. So thank you pretentious uer users and thank you Genesha for helping me out.

What this site IS, is a place for us to come together, post our work for people who appreciate it, understand it, and to get help, offer encouragement, and share ideas. What this site ISNT, is a place for people to whine about how mistreated they feel, and for freeloaders to sponge off the hard work that others have put in. As far as being pretentious, again no idea what you're talking about, but if you feel you have been mistreated, all I can say is well, sorry. Maybe get some thicker skin if thats what you need, grow up and not engage others in "bickering" and maybe this place will feel right to you. We'll be here for you if that ever happens. Good luck and happy exploring.

Haha. My point exactly. You actually took the time to read my posts to crossfire my opinion. Some of my buddies have posted on here too. Same type of responses. You're just trolling and thats what I'm talking about. Somebody actually went through the effort to block my account. Im not saying this site is a bust by any means. People post pictures of spots so i can find them. Im by no means passive aggressive. Ask anyone that know me and they'll tell you otherwise. Thanks for your response

I just looked over your posts.

You wanted to know how to find more locs and you didn't go to a meet-and-greet that was local to you. Crypton asked you what your interests are but you gave him a vague response "good stuff".

No "hot federal stuff"
You don't like locations that have mold or asbestos.

What are you trying to accomplish here?

I was brand new and wanted to see some cool shit. I was really excited about this site until I got here. I was uneducated about the hobby. Theres others just like me too. If this site was a little more open to new comers, we could educate about proper principles behind what we do. Instead its "fuck a newbie". We could be educating and pro active about preservation. Maybe some of these places would get less vandalized and torn down. I dont post anything on here because party kids and graff artists troll this site for spots to kick it.

I thought you were leaving? This discussion has been debated endlessly here and there are several threads you can read regarding it. I too met with a stiff wall of reluctance when I found this site. Within the 1st 3 weeks I was flamed for being associated with someone who gave a location name!

Rather than whine about it, I nutted up, reached out privately to other local explorers, and even met up with and did an explore with a moderator. In addition, I learned from others what a good post consisted of and did my best to emulate them (less the amazing photos they posted - still working on that skill).

Yes this community is tight lipped with newcomers, precisely for the reason you mentioned as well as several others. You cannot expect to jump into a group of people who have no idea who you are and be welcomed with open arms without contributing and reaching out. You reached out, were given an opportunity and didnt capitalize on it. There is nobody here to blame for this community's behavior, just your own lack of follow through.

As I said previously, you were treated quite well from what I can see and the fact that you're taking your ball and going home only indicates to me that your preconceived notions of everyone embracing you as the second coming of Ninjalicious are nothing more than narcissistic delusions.

You dont like the site - go find another one. Or better yet start your own. You dont want to post your pics, then dont - nobody here is forcing you to do anything other than be civil.

What I really think however is that you started this thread in an attempt to gain sympathy and have people feel guilty for the perceived slights you've suffered. I have no idea whats going on inside your head, but if your feelings were hurt based on the threads I've read, I dont know how you get up in the morning.

And all of this is proven out by the fact that you said you were done with UER yet you have posted 5 times in the last 4 hours. Go or stay but stop with the self pity and bitching.

I waited 6 years to get unPBed (more or less). Do you like this site enough to wait even one year without whining and being a smart ass about it?

I'll put up anyone for FM I think will be an asset to UER, including one basic member who had been posting good posts here for 8 years.
Most of what you posted in this thread alone are comments fit only for a Zippo raid with a dozen MK-77s. Tricks are for kids...

MH,

I can relate to your original post. Not so much about this website, but more about moving on from sites that don't suit your needs. Every discussion forum has its own personality. Some are very much a family where, for the most part, everyone gets along. Other sites are quite contentious where any post that can be interpreted the wrong way, will be intentionally interpreted the wrong way.

It took me a little while to get the feel for UER. What I didn't realize at first is the wide age range and levels of maturity. There are some really great folks on the list. But there are also some folks that aren't so great. No different than any other site on the web.

If you want to stick around UER, then search out folks with the same attitude as you. Ignore the negative comments to the extent possible. On the other hand you may find that this forum just isn't the place for you. I've walked away from a number of discussion sites because of bad behavior by the members. Life is way too short to spend time on a website that doesn't help move your life forward, or even worse, drags you down.

All the best in your explores!

Abby Normal

I dont see any rules saying I cant be the pretentious one. Im just saying that anyone that has been pretentious to me on this site can kiss my ass. Ill be seeing the places you post pictures of and I will see them in person. And so will all the graff artists and juvenile deliquents. Your anonymity game is weak. This is whats put out there. So this is what Im giving back.

Sorry to hear you feel that way, man. I will agree that this community is a little tough to break into, and that the Seattle area in particular seems to be a little antisocial, but it also seems to me that you haven't really tried very hard. I know people really jumped your shit at the beginning over the #TPR thing, which might not have been very fair or welcoming, but let's get real: you have only posted photos of 4 explores, haven't really contributed to forum conversations in any meaningful way, and haven't shared much (if any) information about yourself that might help us to figure out what kind of a person you are.

You missed the meet & greet, which you acknowledged. You also missed the meetup we held in August, which if I remember correctly, you RSVP'd for as either attending or possibly attending. And, right from the start, you reported yourself affiliated with a crew of people that you were already exploring with. I don't know about other folks, but I for one am leery of the idea of meeting up with a team of total strangers to explore in places where I am unlikely to get outside help if things get sketchy. Not one or two guys, but a team.

Most of the posts you HAVE made are very short, often one sentence long, and several are either goofy or sarcastic. When I post I think about every word I type, consider every sentence before I put it up on the boards, and especially did so when I was brand new. It's all about making a good impression and showing people you are intelligent and take things seriously. You have to expend some effort and give people a reason to want to explore with you.

That's not to say I think you're a bad dude. You're running into the same problem I did, which is the fact that if people already have a couple of folks to explore with, a regular group of buddies they know and can rely on, there isn't a ton of incentive to try out someone new. Why take the risk?

So give us a reason. Explore a few more spots and post some photos. Show us that you are resourceful and can find locations on your own, and are brave enough to check them out. And prove that exploring is something you really want to do.

PS... Sorry if it seems like I turned on you right after you gave me a compliment, but I'm just being honest.

Suck it up and deal with it. Seriously.
This site can be rough at times. We were all new members once, myself just coming up on a year here now. I've got posts I kinda cringe at, but I took my lumps and kept going.

If you don't like some things on the site, or think things are missing, be the change you want, or post the stuff.

And as for being rough on newbies, as I have learned, it is a vetting process. You have to prove yourself to the folks here.

I see that as an unwritten rule. You have to be established to earn that right.
