First Outing
entry by Kirito

Dear reader,

If you are reading this then I hope that I have written this well, this as you know, is the first entry in this journal that I hope to keep up. This entry is about my first urban exploration, before I even knew something like this place existed.

My father has been of late, a fan of all things Camp X. This led us to the discovery of Camp 30 (for more history on Camp 30 visit this thread: http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0. This was back in March.

But wait a second, let me back up just a tad, in case you didn't read the thread that I linked above, or were too lazy too, let me give you a quick history. In 1922 a local farmer in Bowmanville, Ontario, decided to open a place for juvenile delinquents could learn to better their lives. A few years past and WWII started up, the government of Canada seizes the property and turns into Camp 30 a prisoner of war camp. After the war it returned to being the place it was before until 1979 when it changed hands again and became various schools, before ultimately being abandoned in 2008. Okay here's where we fast forward a couple of years really quick...

Plans then were made to demo the whole ground and turn (as town's seem to do) into new housing complexes (stupid cookie cutter houses). Then, the town's folk cried out and plans were put on hold and now the town wants to turn it into a heritage site, or wait like they did with my old home (which was a historical society protected house) wait until it goes so to pot that there's no coming back from it.

Any ways, back to March 2015, it was one of those early spring days, where one doesn't wear a coat and then regrets it (me). My Dad and I had the day off (usually I have to work Saturday/Sunday) and made plans to go visit the site. When we arrived, I felt sad to see these buildings in such bad states of decay. We took a lot of photos (if I wasn't for me being cold I would have taken more).

Here are some of mine:

No way in, no way out.

There's a hole in my roof.

Good morning, Starshine

Snow's still here what was I thinking going without a proper coat?

Graffiti in the Cafeteria

Even peeling paint and bad words, won't bring this phototog down

Life is tough when you are an old building

Two photos that make me what to sing, Joy to the World the School Burned Down

Classroom outside

Classroom inside (looked like an old shop class)

While we were taking these shots a cop drove by, and ran our license plate.

A few months down the line we were watching a movie called Revelation: End of Days two of the locations used repeatedly where Camp 30 and Hearn (from what I was able to tell).

Please Note: All photo's were taken outside looking in as I doubt my Dad would have allowed me to enter any of the buildings.

Any ways, this ends my first post, and I hope to have something new soon, thanks for reading,

Kirito
