No evidence of anyone living there. Someone had photos of when there was a CHP officer living there, but they are gone now.

And yes, further south than Ord.

Just celebrated the birth of my third girl, an exploration all in its self.

Look at the pics. Read the comments and use Google then Google Earth. It took me 20 minutes to find this location - its not that hard.

There are hundreds of great locations out there that would be incredible to visit but thats one of the reason this sites exists. You cant visit 'em all so you can enjoy them through this venue and your own research. When posts are done well (such as this and dozens of others) I feel like I've already been there!

As for the operational building, I know that as-of a few years ago it was still operational, but mostly remote controlled, and not necessarily in operation by & for the same secret-squirrel use the place was built for back in the 1950s.

The operational building was secured when I was there sniffing around (about 10 years ago now) but it seemed secured simply due to the fact that it was originally built with a lot of physical security features & thus it's easy to lock the front door & have the place remain 'secure' for a long time. There wasn't any evidence of updated security features indicating ongoing efforts to protect the place, & I apparently didn't trip any sensors during my rather enthusiastic (but failed) efforts to get inside.

They did tear-down numerous buildings in-between your visit & mine, & I expect if funds are available, they're want to tear-down the others in the 'support' area of the facility.

It's too bad the state workers left.

Clearly you've never heard of the Alameda-Weehawken Burrito Tunnel. The tech has been around for almost 100 years.

But... But... Aluminum is a nonferrous metal. It neither attracts or repels magnets. Would that it were. Would. That. It. Were...
