I haven't been there yet, but I'd sure like to check it out. Such a fascinating history.

Each time I've been there, there are lots of dog walkers too. I don't know where exactly they come from, but I'm guessing not from the apts. nearby.

And a couple kayakers once. That seemed like a good way to get over.

The first time I infiltrated the base was on Thanksgiving via Kayak and I ended up almost getting my kayak stolen by two guys who were in a shitty little boat going around the base to steal copper. I was on top of 253 and ran all the way down and out to the water as fast as I possible could and I got to where I had left my kayak and they were loading the fucking thing into their shit schooner! I told them it was mine and they ended up being really cool about it, they'd have to be real dicks to let me get stranded out there on Turkey day but ya never know with tweekers!
