Prison Farm

This farm/dairy was largely staffed by criminals and provided most of the milk and dairy products to Washington's prisons for 7 decades. It closed in 2001 due to budget cuts and a reputation for escapes (escapes from an unfenced correctional facility, who would have thought?). Neighboring construction and an active dairy farm kept me from a couple of the buildings so I will definitely be back.

That's really cool! I love the vines.. Was that bird dead? How was it trapped in the fence?

The vines were cool, kinda crazy that it was one of the only rooms that had some ivy in it and it was so overgrown in there. The bird was a hummingbird and it was hanging on by its claws. I guess it got tired, landed and passed away.

I got a chuckle out of that too. There was a similar sign in the next room about card games but I didn't get a good shot of it.

Love the view thru the clouded window of the lush outdoors. The board game sign is precious. How I'd love to hear the thinking behind that rule.

Poor hummingbird, just hanging upside down dead. That's some crazy shit.

I lived for a year in Guam, and all of the apartments in my building had storm shutters on them that you had to crank open. On the day I moved in, I opened all the windows and was surprised to find a dried up little gecko still hanging up in the corner by the shutters.

Nice pictures, that looks like an amazing place.

I love the way the vines are trying to take over the room in pic 3. Just beautiful.

Sweet! These are all cool, but I especially loved the vines and the tool outlines. There looks to be a great lack of graffiti/vandalism at the location as well. Nice work .

lovely images. the bird one is my favorite.

i'm heading up there next weekend with another gf who's never explored before, so we're keeping it light since we're both inexperienced.
