I feel like even if you were able to drain the water out, there are probably collapsed or blocked-over sections beneath the surface. They wouldn't just leave the whole thing open down there would they?

I vote we rent a pump for like $40 for a day and drain the things out during the summer... I have wanted to see what's down there since I went with TomUE the first time.

It's just a large rectangular room down there.

Might have been better just to reference the source page, which also has labels and pictures. ;)

I guess so. It was just a random google image search grab.

Well thanks for posting it, anyway. I'm a little surprised that for some reason I never tried to look that up myself, LOL!

I figured from the top of the bunker that there couldn't be very much down there, but I was expecting something a little more elaborate. It would still be pretty cool, I'm sure.

@luminousaphid

After falling into the silo and cutting my knee pretty bad ruining my clothes cell phone wallet etc in the nasty water I decided I saw enough of the inside of the silo. lol. I had a pretty good plan to drain it but I was also afraid of damaging people's houses "down stream" and if someone else fell through one of the numerous holes down there and I saw it on the news I know I would feel guilty about it later so I decided just to leave it alone. I really want to go see the functional niki site in california.

I have been there (SF 88L) several times. It's totally preserved, but far from functional. If you are interested in site history and location info, you can read this book is pretty good.

Also, for a more general book about the Nike system rings of supersonic steel has a brief history and site details of every nike installation in the US...

I'm not a fan of HDR. That being said, I think you did an awesome job and didn't over do it the way most do (which is why I tend not to like it 95% of the time).

Very nice! Great set!
