Not necessarily "exploring" related, but very relevant to historic industrial locations!

Immortal: always everything, but particularly...

"The gate is open,
With endless heights, tall and steep.
Here moons at twilight
Above the misty deeps.
Graced with eternal nights, ice blown by wind;
Forests dark to see - dead naked trees."

And on the way to any rurex sites, consider:

There isn't much music that reminds me of specific explores except for these.

I was jamming these two out hard when we were going to the Silverdome every weekend in November.

And this mix helped me get up and down the stairs at Book twice one night in May last year.

My Rooftopping Anthem

"Now the lights all look like stars
And there's solice from afar.
I toss a smoke and watch it tumble
Into the whisper of passing cars."

For Rurex this 2 song EP is amazing.

"Jobs in Steeltown" focuses on the downfall of the steel industry and how it affects families.

http://youtu.be/I7AEDawn8RM

"The Barrel" reminds me specifically of wandering the old houses and factories in the woods when i first got into exploring. the lyrics/song are amazing.

"My candy shop's a factory
Left in the woods to die
Beneath this settled dust
A fertile field of treasure lies
We, the scavengers, are huntin'
For the beautiful decay."

There's a grindcore band in Korea whose lead singer goes by the nickname "Pyha" which basically means "abandoned building" (the Korean pronunciation of Haikyo). Here's an example of one of their songs which is about the violence of urban renewal.

Haechi is a mythological creature that was recently adopted as the symbol of Seoul. This is very rare South Korean satire (which is punishable with prison sentences).

Our Haechi runs for justice
Defeat the left wing who promote disintegration
Mocking strikers, everybody freeze! (Seoul City! Design City!)
I will scold greedy protesters also (Seoul City! Design City!)
Repel all filthy street vendors (Seoul City! Design City!)
Our virtuous wise Haechi
Freedom! Democracy! Advanced! Nation!
Our Haechi fights for peace
Defeat the left wing who promote disintegration
Evil environmental groups, everyone freeze! (Seoul City! Design City!)
I will scold pro-North left-wing students also (Seoul City! Design City!)
Our virtuous wise Haechi brought stylish fountains to the square (Seoul City! Design City!)
Freedom! Democracy! Advanced! Nation!

It's not really what I'd have in my head when I'm exploring, unless I get attacked by hired goons or something. Here's a song by the Soviet rock band Kino (not to be mistaken with the later band by the same name). The song title "Progulka Romantika" is probably best translated to "wandering" but is usually translated as "Romantic's Walk" (though don't think of "romantic" as in the English sense but more like "whimsical."

There's a storm outside, a storm
On the other side of the window
The streetlamps are casting strange shadows
I'm looking into the night
I see that this night is dark
But this won't be an obstical for the romantic man's walk.

The entrance is scary,
I hear banging of the doors,
black cats are crossing the street,
Let them run!
I don't belive in these fairy tales
And this won't be an obstical for the romantic man's walk.

It's dificult to keep going,
I left a long time ago,
And the evening round at my friend's was pleasant and happy,
I drank wine,
Oh how I love wine,
But this won't be an obstical for the romantic man's walk.

I woke up in the metro,
when they were turning of the lights,
I was awoken by a mana in a red hat,
End of the line,
And no tranis back,
But this won't be an obstical for the romantic man's walk.

I've heard this song used in a exploring video before, it's a bit haunting. I like it.

Good tunes. I have an old iPod from like 2005, I might load up some of these tunes on here and bring it on my next trip.
