Wow, nice builds.

I went the other way with my first AR build. I decided to build an M-16A1 clone, a rifle my late father, a Vietnam Vet, was very familiar with. I put her together about 8 years ago using a surplus M-16A1 upper, as well as a surplus A1 pistol grip and buttstock. I modified an A2 lower at a friend's machine shop to look like an A1 lower. Then I used Duracoat "Colt Gray" on the upper and lower + all of the small pieces. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Take a look -

it's a huntertown arms kestrel 556. its a budget one but it works and breaks down.I just went to a YHM QD setup and its much easier and lighter now

i actually did an A1 as my first as well! that was years ago now. I sold it for a profit lol. that's a nice lookin rifle. I love the colt grey look. I used an NDS half fence lower on mine.

the paint is off the SBR now. i removed it for a Colt 733 build for a "Heat" replica. I miss the paint tho . the lower actually isn't auto, I just made it look like that ;). I wish! just a registered SBR.

sorry I didnt see there were reply's in here. oops! and thanks all!

Yeah, excellent looking ARs there. Especially the SBR.

I still cannot bring myself to dump the money on all of the tactical stuff for mine, so it remains a bare bones A2. I bought a flat top upper but it is just laying around, waiting for my to put a sight on it.
