Abandoned Victorian off Highway

A lot of you that traverse HWY 101 may have seen this old girl. By the looks of it, there was a tree that fell on the back of the house many years ago. The pics show how bleached and weathered the fallen trunk is. Also, I was glad to see an original, brick-lined and hand dug well. It only goes down about thirty feet. In this area, you don't even see water until 200 feet now! I tried to get some upstairs shots, but halfway up the staircase I heard a rustling sound and chickened out. I broke my rule and did not tell anybody I was going there. The last thing I need is to get stabbed in the neck by some tweaker, or gnawed on by a rabid badger!

I tried to get a shot of the transom window as well, since those things have always fascinated me.

Also, does anybody know what the adobe building is in back? It has a cement floor, and it's too small for a garage or carriage house of any kind.

There is construction nearby that looks like they may be prepping the lot for agriculture soon. I don't know what the plan is for this house, but I don't think they could ever save it. As Archer once wisely quipped, "It would be cheaper to build a house out of actual money."

BTW, this spot will be in the LDB for as long as it is still standing.

On an unrelated note, I hit a deer in my VW Jetta, so they gave me a 2014 Mercedes to drive for a rental car. Unbeknownst to me, I have really good insurance! I had to toss in a pic of that. 1.

These last two were my fleeing shots of the upstairs, so they are a little blurrier than the rest.

THanks for looking!

The building out back almost looks like some kind of storage shed or outhouse or something like that. And that tree looks like it's been dead a long time. I wonder if it was the cause of the house being abandoned or it happened afterward.

Thats what I was thinking, but there is no hole in the floor, or provision for plumbing. It may have been some kind of drying room or hot house, but I'm not sure.

I think the tree is what did this place in as well. There are a ton of similar houses out in this general area that are in similar shape. I guess people get tired if living in the sticks and just bail after a while.

I was thinking that at first too, but there's no holes in the floor. It's just a blank floor. One thing's for sure, it would have made a killer little studio or gaming cave : )
