A perspective on Iraq
entry by Vigilante
7/25/2004 4:58 AM

I read quite a few forums, news sites, etc., and the same thing always pops up once a week or so, a thread about the justification for or against the iraq war.

What I find amazing is how quickly these discussions are derailed into nothing more than the equivalent of a few squabbling children who would rather insult each other than have a discussion about the whole thing. Unfortunately this seems to be an unbreakable trend as of late.

Anyway, one thing that always gets me is how no one looks at the whole thing from an Iraqi perspective. The whole root idea behind the war was to free the Iraqi people of the crap they had been put through by Saddam Hussein. Yet no one seems to get the idea that they were at least alive under Him. I watched Full Metal Jacket today, and a quote really stuck out at me:

"They'd rather be alive than free"

The quote says it all folks.
