Sorry no photos for this thread lol. Don't post my model stuff here.....

Was curious if any of the group I stumbled upon out in the desert last night while I was doing a model shoot happen to be from within our ranks? I was at a pretty well known location doing a shoot and ran into a nice little group of explorers.

BTW side note is the scrappers are even more heavy at a certain desert AFB/ Federal Prison than they had been. Was baffled to find the giant freight elevator I was gonna shoot in torched up and removed lol determined little shits they are!

I was just there this afternoon, actually. So was Flashy.

I didn't run into any scrappers while I was there, but my buddy and I did have a couple of close-calls with passing SUVs coming from the radome. I'll post pics as soon as I've sorted through all of them.

Like Surlysilverback said, I was there today. Small world. We went before Surly showed up and left for lunch after three hours of exploring. I'm hoping to have photos up soon.

We only came across one guy who was scrapping for metal, but other than that we didn't come across anyone nor had issues with cars. Glad you guys didn't get into any trouble, Surly. Were the vans from the dome?

I was there friday night, shooting in the neighborhood, and saw some light painting on the radome just after sunset, then they left real soon after dark....

LoL Yeah I was doing a dry lake bed shoot, but we wanted to knock out a couple last minute shots in there. Noticed a couple cars as I drove in, then ran into the group of about 6-8 explorers on way out. had to of been about 9:00...

As far as the Radar dome, dont stress on people from there. They will keep an eye on you if they notice you, until they see what you are up to. I have spoke with the Sheriffs about the location multiple times, and they are totally cool with explorers, photogs, looky lous going out there. So no need to get all secretive when out there.

The only thing the Sheriffs asked is that we do call and report any scrapping we may see going on. The Radar Dome attendant tries to do so as well, but he can only see so much through his few cameras that are mostly pointed at the dome doors.

I have no problem calling cops when I see scrappers. To me lowest form of life because they are putting more effort into destroying places in order to make a few bucks, than they would put into a real job. Difference is they can typically stay druggies if they dont have a real job.

You know, I should follow your example. I guess I never really thought about calling someone on the scrappers, just stay away since I have ran into a scrapper who got really aggressive and violent until we literally left the place.

That's great info, thanks for that heads up on accessing the site, Ryder.

Flashy mentioned encountering a scrapper there, but I didn't run into him. Scrappers piss me off, and I'll phone them in whenever I see them.

Swiggity swooty, she's coming for dat booty. Haha thanks! We went into one of the portable homes on the hill and you could see everything from the window. I thought it'd be interesting to photograph, I'm really happy with how it came out.

How'd your photos come out?

Spent 4 nights there over the May/June full moon phase.

I've been trickling images online for a while now, here's a private gallery of the whole set, even the ones that won't be posted publicly on the web:

Seriously. They stole the Bell, too. Plus some vandals decided to label every building and house recently, probably for airsoft. It's sad seeing this place slowly deteriorate in the most unnatural way...

Nice pictures everyone.

Guess I can share some of my last exploration photos from the site as well..... these are okay here right? lol It is from the site hahahaha

BTW for those exploring there, head north a little further on the freeway there and look to the left for a big giant pink building on a hill.... this was part of the radar system attached to the base in its prime ;)

And if you want to get real exploratory, head out int eh desert not far to the west and locate the B-25 crash site....

Ran into scrappers here last year. They pretended to be picking up bottles until they verified that I meant no opposition... then when I was out of visual range, picking up bottles got much louder.

Never thought about reporting it. Still not sure I would or not if they caught my license plate.

I was caught by on-site personnel during my last trip here. I wandered too close to the radome and must have come up on a camera, because they sent out a team to look for me. Was eventually caught and escorted out. They gave me the whole spiel about trespassing government land (which I found odd, because they haven't posted No Trespassing signs anywhere on the perimeter).

Still, I'm satisfied. Think I've managed to see all there is to see here.

Last time i was there, there were signs posted right at the entrance....at the base of the road you have to drive up to get there. Federal trespassing, violators will be prosecuted. Not sure if they're gone now. but they were pretty prominently displayed about 9 months ago...it amazes me that some people can walk in there and cut down telephone poles but you get escorted out for taking photos. regardless, nice pics. at least you got some.

It's funny, those are all gone and there's nothing indicating it's illegal to trespass now. I was told by the locals that no one really cares if anyone is there as long as you don't mess with the dome.
