What's the penalty for trespassing nowadays? Is there any way to get in other than trespassing?

I have the same question for Tustin.

When there is tranquility, you are in the right place. When there are no footprints, you are on the right path. When there are no tire tracks, you are on the right road.

I live next to the base, it's VERY hard to trespass and not get arrested. There's an RV park in the back, many cars pass through the only place you can get inside and there's also some kind of office at the entrance off of the street that connects to the base.

I have been wanting to go since it's in my backyard, but I suggest make it look like you're going to the RV park and then duck in to whatever opening you find and hide until you think you're clear and good to explore. That's my best advice to give as someone who knows the area very well.

Would it be feasible to enter under cover of night along the eastern side near the mobile homes? Also, is there a just a fine or can you get charged with a misdemeanor?

It depends on the cop. A lot of the Irvine cops don't have lives outside of yelling at kids who don't wear helmets, so if caught, the punishment could range from just getting chased away to even a misdemeanor since they crack down more on government property (military based land). It's like the Nike Missile Base. I don't suggest nightfall just because your flashlight would probably alert someone easily, I'd go more at dusk when it looks normal to be going back to the RVs or using the excuse of "I was going to the park and I got lost" so at least if you are caught, they can't fine you for anything unless you have one leg over or under the fence.

Is a military base any different then a regular penalty?
It's an infraction. They write you a ticket and you can either pay it. Or pay it and FIGHT it (which I and others have done) and the court mails you a refund. Like a traffic ticket.

. . . But seriously. If El Toro is too risky now how about the Tustin Base?

That all depends on the military base. MCAS tustin/El toro is more of a civil penelty/ticket due to being deactivated, whereas the base I work at will get you thrown in federal prison for a long ass time.

Yes. I had figured we were only talking about closed bases.
