One of my friends has the habit of checking for roof access EVERY time we're in a hotel. The other day we were parking in San Francisco and couldn't find the street-access elevator: only the Hotel elevator. We decided to take it to the lobby to exit to street, but... why not check out the view from the top floor first?

When we got to the top floor, we were surprised how the stair wells had open-air balconies with no bars or glass to prevent... accidents.

Of course my friend decided to check roof access, and to our surprise there it was. No alarms, locks, cameras, or anything.

Here's some pics & pans:

1. Entry area

2. Stairs to some machinery - we didn't want to mess with that so we went under:

3. This is probably a tell for anyone from SF:

5. The views up here were incredible

very nice. its a good habit to always check out the roof tops of any hotel or tall building you're staying at.
