A Very Cincinnati Xmas - 3rd Edition! (VCXP3X)

I was determined to make the trip to the third annual VCXPEX, regardless of how many rides fell through and the looming blizzard ahead. I had missed the previous year due to similar reasons, so i did everything i could to make sure i'd go 2 for 3.
Just like any Midwest meet-up, fantastic times were had; consisting of plenty of beer, cheap liquor, decaying abandonments, steamy tunnels, soaring rooftops and all the hot meat one could masticate. I, personally, stuck to abandonments this year, as the amount of hot meat i devoured the first night fought me the entire next day. I would've loved to see the Cincinnati skyline from above, but dozens and dozens of flights of stairs did not sound appropriate in my condition.

First off..
Check out this BOAT! Known by many names over the course of her life (but most commonly the U.S.S. Sachem), she was originally launched in 1902. 186 feet long and steam powered, she served in both World Wars. Her main objectives were to patrol waters, sink U-boats and be used to train sailors in the use of sonar.

After the wars, she was converted to a tour boat and took thousands of people sightseeing on tours of New York City.

In the early 1980s, she was retired from her sightseeing adventures and sat abandoned in a pier for several years.
Eventually, she was bought by a man for $7500 and restored to seaworthy condition. As he was completing the restoration, he was offered the opportunity to allow the ancient vessel to play a part in Madonna's music video for "Papa Don't Preach."
Not long after that, she saw her last voyage; down through the Great Lakes, along the Mississippi and to where she now sits, rusty and weathered for the last ~27 years.

Unfortunately, the water level was too high to board on this particular day, but here are some shots from shore, none-the-less!

Next up..
An old school, built in the beginning of the 1900s and freshly cracked on this particular day.

And then..
An old brewery; partially torn down, then converted to a nightclub.

Finally..

All in all, it was a splendid, spectacular, spicy weekend. These meet-ups are the highlights of my damn life. Friends, exploring and drinking entirely too much are what i live for. Thank you so much to Budda and his ma for the fine hospitality!

Full set can be seen hurr. Most are already on this thread, though.

Thanks for stoppin' by!

We're going to need you to raft out to the boat.

I definitely would have, if i had one!
The water level does get low enough at times, though, where you can walk right out to it.

Nice thread, and props for using masticate in a thread body. That boat is boss, I'm guessing there's literally no way without supplies to board it?

Thanks!
If the water level is low enough, you can climb right up. Not the case on this particular day, unfortunately.

Fantastic shots! I'm none too proud of this, but when I lived in cincy, I went to that "club" a few too many times. Is the bowling alley still intact ?

Someone brought an inflatable raft or two.

Also considered was the option of walking on the ice to get to the boat, but as Eschaton effectively demonstrated, it was not as strong as it looked.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

Where in the club was it located?

I only found out that there was a bowling alley after we had finished up, but had I known, I'd have looked for it.

Unfortunately, no. That was probably in the part of the building that was torn down.

Thank you much!

And i would've given the place a shot. I'm real curious to how it looked when it was active, how bumpin' the place was.

Oh, well, thank you! It was a pretty swell time. A bit cold, but i'm used to that.

The only other shots i have are of naked dudes swinging around on stripper poles.
