Need Ideas For Saturday

Ok people, this might be a bit abnormal but I need ideas for a "photo op" for saturday. Were in brooklyn but most of the places in bk are a no go (high fences, construction, increased security) but anything in queens, LI or even staten island (but it better be good). Weve already been to a few spots but want to hit more, any ideas?? PM me with the good stuff.

We could go back to the semi active base in queens but Im up in the air about it. I was asked to get more shots of 2 areas but you think??

I heard about this website the other day, where you can ask a question like this and 1,000,000's of answers will pup up in less than a second! I forgot what it was called though.

Ive heard of google & bing, but you know what I've found? They dont tell you a damned thing compared to a community that has actually been there. And considering that active, smart sites use pseudonyms, you could be searching all day & not find much on anything thats A) accesible & B-still standing.

I stumbled across this site through a web ring & the other site for my area has spots but theyre in buffalo, monticello and the rest of upstate.

Excuse me if I came to the right place with the right knowledge rather than search google at work & get bitched at

You registered 12 days ago, you have only a handful of posts, you have not made any major contributions to the community (minus the few sets you have posted, so that is always a plus), and I assume you do not personally know many members... What does this mean? You will most likely not get any information from anyone here about locations, access points, or alike. As it has already been said, use google or actually do what this hobby of UE is about; go out and look for locations yourself.

Until you start giving something to the UER community, they will gladly return the favor.

That being said, it's really no surprise that you have assumed that this might be a good place to ask about directions to, or the coordinates of, abandoned and/or off-limits places in general (or your favorite place in particular).

I'm sorry to inform you that this is not, in fact, the case.

The general practice here is to avoid giving out specific details about the names and locations of the places we talk about on the Public Forums. Most of us are not trying to be rude (some probably are), but there are some good reasons behind the practice.

Property Owners, Security Personnel, and Law Enforcement Officers are known to frequent this site in order to passively and actively prevent further exploration.

Vandals, Scrappers, and Arsonists are known to frequent this site in order to find places to Vandalize, Scrap, and Arse.

Naming a location on the public forums can cause that thread to come up in the results of web searches, so that Property Owners, Security Personnel, Law Enforcement Officers, Vandals, Scrappers, and Arsonists who do NOT frequent this site will see it anyway.

Finally, some of us are petty and possessive about the places we've busted our butts to access, and have seen some really great locations descend into ruin after word about them got out. We get LOTS of people coming through who just want a cheap thrill without putting in any effort, and it gets tiring after a while.

Now, maybe you ARE a Property Owner, Security Person, Law Enforcement Officer, Vandal, Scrapper, or Arsonist. If so, welcome to the site! All information contained herein is for educational purposes only, all actions described are fictional, and all photographs have been photoshopped or stolen off of Flickr.

If you are NOT one of these, welcome to the site! We have a fantastic trust system in place, and once we get to know you, you, too, may be admitted into the halls of glory that are accessible with a Full Membership. With FM status comes access to the Private Boards and Location Database, where information flows a little more freely (There is even a guy in the bathroom that hands out towelettes!).

Sections taken from the thread, "So, you have asked for a location." I would advise checking that out too.

The Durango '95 purred away a real horrowshow - a nice, warm vibraty feeling all through your guttiwuts. And soon it was trees and dark, my brothers, with real country dark.

Im well aware I haven't contributed much and thats mostly due to the fact that I work b.s hours at my job & if im lucky I have one day to myself & most of the time im maintaining 1 of 2 cars so my time to get out there & hit the dirt is limited.

As far as google earth & google search goes, I do use them when I get to the pc & most of what Ive been finding is either 2-6 hours away from me or heavily travelled & boarded up.

A few of the places on LI I had planned on visiting were torn down or under new construction.

Theres one place on montauk but its a 2 1/2 hour drive & I have no clue whether its worth the trip or not, cant find much relevant info on it.

I dont want to steal anyones spot, i dont need copper & im far from a cop. All i was looking for was tips for a day trip. As i get out there more I'll contribute more & if my damn phone would cooperate, searching would be a bit easier but I have limited time to cram all of this in

There's plenty off stuff out there. I know a handful of places and I've only been to Long Island twice. Just look a little harder, stuff will turn up.

Ive found a few small sites (restaraunts, single story buildings, etc) but I prefer larger, more industrial or military sites & I know of 4 going that way. Theres a single building in the midst of an active complex in queens, one nut house on LI, been there a few times, a semi active base on the queens/LI border, again been there a few times & a base all the way out past riverhead but that might be a crap shoot with traffic & the amount of on site "attractions".

The border base will be a return trip but my wifes (my ue partner) ankle is messed up right now, past UE injury & the terrain does nothing but tear her ankle apart.

Hell, if I had a prius or chevy volt & a week off of work I'd explore the shit out of LI, queens & parts of upstate.

I try & get out there as often as I can but its hard considering none of my friends are into this & i havent met any of the group

sounds like you have already answered your question, and you got some places to start for a shoot. You already know what you're getting with those locations.

With one of them its a guaranteed health problem thanks to the pigeons roosting on the upper levels & its in the middle of an active complex, so high traffic & a lot of eyes on me, 2 things I dont like in these places. The border base still has a few good spots I haven't been in yet, but like I said, my wifes ankle is a hinderance right now. The nut house has motion sensors & other 5.0 crap in the good spots & id like to keep my anal virginity thank you very much. And my choices are narrowed because we dont have bikes atm & a car in the middle of an otherwise deserted lot stands out a little.

I have done a little satellite browsing but theres heavy tree cover at a lot of these spots & the historic imagery doesnt reveal as much as I'd hope. One place in particular thats upstate which is known for "satanic cults" and suicidal spirits is in the middle of a forest & its hard to draw a bead on anything thats not natural.

Maybe im using the wrong browser for imaging (google earth), maybe im a noob(no shit) but I kind of thought this would more of a resource & less of what ive been treated to. Some people forget how they started & only know where they ended up not hall monitor

Flickr works well too for getting an idea of what to expect at some places. Sometimes the posts at the bottom of images can reveal a lot of info. Lots of the abandoned groups on there have posts and threads about all locations in an area as well. Not saying it's a go-to, but another tool in the bag for sure.

I prefer Bing's overhead view maps to Google maps. I find it easier to spot places and get a better view

As far as apps go, I was using instagram & tumblr but neither proved fruitful. I saw a few places that look good but they gave no info as to where, not even a town. Ill give flickr a shot & I'll check out Bing. Google earth has helped a lot but like I said, too much ground cover to see well.

I can't find shit near me (Or something like that)

Yo buddy, you live in the largest city in the motherfucking United States, New York. I find abandoned shit in New York City by accident on my way through NYC for other abandoned shit. I find abandoned shit in NYC on Google by mistake looking into info on other abandoned shit. If you seriously cannot find anything withing TWO FUCKING HOURS of you, let alone IN the city, you are in the wrong business son.

My advice would be to always keep an eye out for places that look abandoned. You never know what you might find.

As a few people said earlier, Google is your friend. Bing Maps is also quite helpful.

Seek and ye shall find...

Meh, go easy on him. If you aren't giving specific details etc, it's no harm. Just tell him it's around this area..... Go find it. WARN him of motion sensors obviously, but otherwise, going in blind

I've vouched for many people, all are still here 10+ years later. Safety and security are important. Once that's covered, rock and roll...
