Ill Take It With Me To My Grave

A friend of mine who was looking for parts for his Nova came across this old geezer out in a semi rural area with a collection of old cars that sounded somewhat interesting so on a gloomy day before the rain came in and with a few hours to kill we skipped over for a look. Old geezer was without a doubt one of the meanest SOB I've crossed in some time. He used to be a mechanic and ran the shop in town for years but eventually he got too old to turn wrenches anymore but kept his precious collection in his backyard never getting around to fixing or selling anything. He is eighty-nine years old now and just broke both his hips last month, has a nurse and some nosey neighbors that check in on him from time to time, and a pack of yapping dogs that live inside his house. He hasn't spoken to his son in forty years and he absolutely refuses to part with any of his vehicles for any price. That's just fine with me, I wasn't looking to buy anyway. I waited for his dogs to stop barking and with a hop, skip and a jump I was over the fallen down fence and into the Honeysuckle and Blackberry briers that had overtaken his prized collection. Volkswagens, Ghia and old Cadillac of all kinds were there to explore and he has yet another property not far away with another forty-five old vehicles rusting to bits in a wonderful vehicle graveyard wasteland as yet to be seen. I have no doubt that he will be dead and buried soon enough and just as certainly as those yapping dogs will eat his face than certainly his family will sell everything to the scrap man for a buck. But till then I play tag in the auto graveyard.

want....

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

I suppose that there's a fair chance that one of those tan Ghias was mine.

Mandias, I cant possibly picture your 6' 9" ass stuffed into a Ghia but if you say so than so be it. I very badly wanted some of these vehicles for myself to restore but with no money and even less time I don't even have the ability to restore the abandoned Jeeps sitting in my own yard much less take on a new project car. Thanks for the feed back all, I do love me an old auto graveyard reclaimed by nature. I might just post a picture of my very own abandoned CJ-7 sitting on my own abandoned backyard now :]

Once I fix it I just cant afford to feed it, thirsty beast. I'll stick with the van for now, not too bad on gas, seats seven for those long trips, often camp out of it when I cant squat, and it blends in for discreet parking when needed. Van is the way to go, be ready for the zombie apocalypse man.

Ill stick with my civic. fits four great. blends in. great on gas. If you do it right, dont even need to camp. just lay that back seat down and half way crawl into the trunk. hahahaha

Great pictures. Love the cars being reclaimed by nature. It's bittersweet though, while it looks fantastic, bet many if not all of those cars will never drive again.

As for discreet vehicles, I'll roll with someone else. I'll leave the Flintstone style sleeping with legs shoved into the trunk to Dammband though.
