25 June 2004
entry by Krenta
6/28/2004 1:27 AM

I got all geared up this evening, ready to go draining; had on my rubber boots and reflective lime-green vest, my five-million candlepower light, and all my camera gear. It was a lot to carry, but I believe in being well-prepared. I walked to a nearby park and used a short length of braided cord to try and pop my target manhole cover open. I succeeded in popping the lid, but also something in my lower back. I considered continuing on, but really was in rather exquisite agony, and could hardly move. Besides, I'm not such a macho idiot as to just ignore such a serious injury.

Dejected, I staggered back home, wincing with every step. After a hot shower, I went to bed and tossed and turned, trying to get comfortable, another perfect opportunity to trespass under the city wasted.
