26th of June, 2004: Monopod

Well, I bought the monopod and few curses flew in my home, when I opened the package. It just seemed like a waste of money really. Too weak structure and not too much options, to adjust the lenght of the damn thing.

However, I spent a day learning all the things it would enable me to do while in a low light conditions and it seemed ok...

Of course practising inside of your home isn't enough, so I spent a day in a muddy factory and it really is a usefull thing. Of course it doesn't give enough support to do some really long exposures, but just enough to stabilize the camera in shutter speeds, that you can't hold steady without a tripod...or monopod.

Talking about tripod...that damn thing will spent it's days in the closet from now on. I never really liked to carry the tripod around. Too much adjusting to get it straight etc. At least the floor in the places I visit, is never straight and always something on the floor, that makes adjusting the tripod an agonizing job.

So monopod is ok? No wait a second, that's not the right word! That monopod was probably the most usefull item, that I've ever bought!

Here's few pictures from the exploration, performed by me and my new best friend...

Can you take a pic from the monopod too? I would also like to have one, but I'm not sure if I could use it with the D70.

- If you can attach a tripod to your camera, most likely you can also attach the monopod. I bought mine from MegaZone (Anttila). It's HAMA's and didn't cost too much and above all, weights only a bit over 400g.

- It does require some practising...at least I had to practise a bit, before figuring out how to use it effectively...but that's just me.

P.S. I managed to screw your message completely...don't know how, as I thought that I pushed the reply button ...

Well, I thought that D70 would be a bit too heavy to use with a monopod. Of course I would not use 400 mm tele (Friend is selling it, 390 euros, and I'm going to buy it, very probably) with it, but still... Would it be stable enough?-)

Np about the screwed-up message.
