I received an email yesterday evening from a dark ambient group (one person) asking permission to use my pictures, in his coming demo record.
I'm currently listening his demo recordings and I'm really impressed by the quality. Usually those demo recordings are really awful, with the sound quality changing from bad to worse and ending to the point where you just can't listen anymore. But this is very good...
I'm actually quite pleased, because two years ago while starting to modify the pictures, the idea was to offer something for people who like this type of music and generally speaking, to create something "spooky" But yes, I went a bit too far with the modifying and after about a year, I took most of the horrible looking piece of junk off from my site. Now, if I want to look something really ugly, I just browse through the folder where those pictures are still stored. Of course I still modify my pictures to some extent, meaning mainly B&W and sepia tone to the pictures. I do not feel any quilt about this, because I could achieve the sepia tone in the dark room also, while shooting with B&W film, which I do. It's just that the updates to my site would lag behind badly, if I would wait for the time to actually get the negatives developed. The Osmussaar trip happened in July 2003 and I got the negatives developed in the spring of 2004...and yes, there's more negatives waiting that are shooted between summer of 2003 and the present day.
So, most likely I will be giving him a permission to use any of the pictures that pleases him...
Just as long as my face will be on the front cover...now that's something really spooky...
