The Jones Store, according to KCLib was first built at 12th and Main in 1899. In the postcard and pictures you can see what they did with the old 6 story building to make it into the Jones Store that we once new in Kansas City.
The Jones Store building was 6 stories with a bunch of other buildings down the block (the right side of the postcard). The postcard is from 1916.
The Jones Store building had 2 stories removed to match the height of the neighboring buildings and was refaced in 1957 along with some of the buildings down the block to become the big Jones Store that we saw before it was torn down. You can see some of the other old buildings that were covered up at the far right of the photo.
