Having been born and raised in Sudbury and making at least yearly (usually more) trips down to southern Ontario, I have such fond memories of where we stopped for a burger and fries, or an ice cream, or to stretch our young legs. Sadly, most of those places made their way into this gallery. It seemed as we got older and our bladders and our stomachs could hold out longer, we just stopped stopping, I guess.

Remember the Voyageur? I'll never forget eating a hot dog and fries out of a cardboard canoe, and always...ALWAYS...begging my parents to buy me something from the little shop on the way out. I had a thing for those mystery ink pens and notebooks they sold.

I know there are many 30-something Sudburians here...so, is it just me?

mystery ink pens rocked.. so did the activity pads that had a ton of different stuff t'do in them.

i can remember stopping along 69 on our way to wonderland or the toronto zoo. i don't remember the names of the places tho - but it's the little stops and mini-adventures that made those trips so fun..

Well I'm not in the 30-somethings, so maybe that explains why I can't remember these places being open...or maybe I should blame it on being young and having a gameboy. Anyway, I've always loved driving by these places on my trips back home. If there wasn't so much traffic all the time I'd have checked them out more by now.
