For a neat little history of Topeka State Hospital, and the Center building in particular, check this link:

Edit: The interior architectural details mentioned in the article are gone. The fireplaces have been stripped of tile and the leaded glass is gone.

Here are pics from only a few years after closure, stained glass windows were still intact and not a single window was boarded. That all has changed.

I like the outside of the building better than the interior, which had been stripped of pretty much everything. Still cool to see tho.
