I visited the dishes this past weekend to shoot some photos for my final project for school and it was easy to get in to. The gate was wide open so i drove right in and parked near the main dish. the place is in pretty much the same condition you see in the pics except theres even more tags now. someone has been nice enough to pull down the metal that was hanging there from a while back so its not a problem now. i went in and the main floor was cool but really trashed. so i climbed up the side (ya go up the side not the ladder inside) ...not such an easy feat with 30 pounds of camera gear. it was so cool ...great views from there. I recommend close to evening when light ing is best. the control room is about the same as the ground floor now..TnTd (trashed n tagged). got up to the dish and it was really cool. i was shooting and ran across a group of locals. they say that security is pretty lax now but peeps will from time to time come and ask you to leave but thats about it. no major worries as long as youre cool about it. i got my shots and headed out. i highly recommend a visit....its a very cool experience. Ill be posting my pics as soon as i develop and scan the film ones. ill prolly have digitals in this weekend.
