I've lit a match at midnight (actually I lit several) and yes it went out (like they do) and I heard no scream, disappointing.. however, the time before that, me and my buddy did hear a wolfish dog howling/barking when we ventured to the centre of the tunnel, kinda creepy... also smells like dead fish.

Maybe the ghost has laryngitis. After all those years of screaming!

Reply by Cato: It is an interesting tunnel, with an interesting story. Originally built as a train tunnel by the Grand Trunk Railway just before World War I but the company ran into financial trouble at the start of the war, and it ended up abandoned, it was never used. The smell is actually more like rotten eggs, and is caused by sulphur content in the spring water that comes to the surface nearby, and runs through the tunnel. Actually there are supposed to be two spirits there. The little girl, who is friendly, and the spirit of an older man, who is nasty, and bad.
