Just got back from a run through the old Nike base in Newport, MI. Sure has changed since ilduce was there in '07.

Firstly, I have doubts about it being government land anymore. There's lots of newer looking "Private Property" and "Posted" signs all around the perimeter. Then there's the fact that all the stuff in his pics of the admin building is gone. No chairs, books, etc.

We got a later start than we wanted, so didnt get any good pics, didnt go through the IFC and launcher areas. Just the launcher barracks and admin areas, and saw most of that in the dark, but you can tell its in way worse condition. There were lots more tags on the walls, and a few walls in the old barracks showed signs of having been used for target practice.

I think its still worth the trip, and would like to make a return trip to see the rest of it soon. But, it seems to be deteriorating pretty quickly, if someone isnt actively trying to clean it up.

Recommend long sleeves and pants, boots, etc. We found a couple of ticks on us afterwords.
