This site is under MAJOR construction. Roads in and out of the area are closed. Many of the buildings have been renovated or demolished. Last time I was inside the main building(April 2011), there was major machinery (forklifts, front end loaders, and welding gear) inside. Last time I visited (Sept 2011) the place was barely recognizable. High end lofts and apartments are everywhere. Some of the iconic landmarks (the R.J. reynolds Tower on the Bailey Power Plant) is still standing. A friend of mine and myself explored very extensively in the majority of buildings on the site for many long nights. We spent many nights poking around and reading blue prints we found to understand the workings of such a major tobacco factory.
