I notice Max now has an Action Squad Star.... Now I demand a UEL Star!

I'm not serious; but what is this? Stars for seperate UE groups?

So there I was, in this creepy old hallway...

Based on the alt description, most of our forum should get that star.

A surprising number of us are also dicks, so that works too.

How about an anti-star star that replaces all my other stars and encourages people to get to know me from my actual posts and contributions to the community and form their own opinion about how valuable I might be - sorry it almost seems like we're getting price tags as to how valuable we are to some mods and Av.

Don't get me wrong - I'm a strong UER supporter and I think Av and the other moderators do a good and thankless job, I just don't know if it's fair to brand someone with a mark of someone elses opinion. It could be a real scarlet letter and what about those sneeches - they don't have a star on their bellies - they must have no value!

It was kind of funny at first - even amusing - but really - why don't you just break out the old geek-code system. The big debate used to be what to cut to save bandwidth before the big fix - how many kb have been blown on these stars already?

Anyway - have fun!

edit: sorry - it's very early and I missed a couple of important nouns.

None of the stars are "branding someone with someone else's opinion".

All of them represent either something that you can achieve on your own (like posting new locations, or being on the forum, or posting UE Encyclopedia entries), or are things you get for helping out (donating time or money).

It's designed to give you an at-a-glance view of that person's seniority:

"Oh, this someguy123 guy has been here for 3 months, has donated, and has posted some stuff in the UEDB. he's probably not a total dick"

or

"Hmm, this Chikote guy has been here for less than 1 month, hasn't done squat. I don't know what to expect from him. I'll have to watch his posts."

I don't see any problem with stars that denote some contributions to the community. Stars that are there to demonstrate a personal preference though... well I don't really see their need. It's great that people are proud of their gay friends or selves, but whats the connection to UE ? I mean really, me and some of the other mods figured we should have a "Getting hot chicks" star in that case...

But if stars are here to mean something, then what the hell does the mystery wolf star mean ?

The annoying star was just for fun anyway. Right now only Chikote has it.

The Pride star is only there for fun also... Exka asked for it and I was bored (really bored). Besides, this way people without a star can have at least one.

Ok, then as long as it's just for fun. I would like:

a tabi boot enthusiast star
a camo supporter star
a "getting hot chicks" star
a motorcycle rider star
an against cruelty to animals star
an RPG player star
a Windows user star
a likes pie star
a non-drinker star
a non-smoker star
a non-drug user star

Because these are all things I'm proud of or enjoy.

My point being, personal preferences don't need to be displayed so prominently here, unless it's becoming a dating site...

?

This star thing is out-of-control. Before this is over, there's going to be 100 different stars for every possible thing: You're gay? You get a star. Wiccan? You get a pentagram. Communist? You get a hammer and sickle...

I'm glad I'm seeing this from Infiltration and not UER, or else the proliferation of stars would blow my fragile mind to shreds with sensory overload.

And, just for people's clarification... sXe is 'Straight Edge'... not 'Sexy'.
And yes, people -are- stupid enough to actually think this is what it means.

As for legit stars... I dunno. There are some decent suggestions out there already. A 'Preferred Exploration Area' star would be interesting... something that each person could choose say, 2 of, from their profile, and designate themselves as being a Drainer, or a Tunneler, or a Builderer, or whatever. ~shrugs~
