MM, sounds like a full blown confession to me Would be cool if we could have one other alter ego. Then we could start arguments with ourselves for fun and practice.

Some tunnels from the NAM War(now open to tourism)., This is my exact point of what we don't want to do to our victorian tunnels ,, This is funny . Mountain biking in tunnels in Holland ,, ( another exploitation of tunnels ) I think If we give the flat out answers to the locations here on UER,, our Tunnels Will end up like these "tourist examples",I have found sad to say there will be a toll to enter ,and parking meters out front of them , this is what cannot happen ,, This thread must be read from begining to end to find all of the useable clues to find entry points of access, If the thread is read in reverse you never know what information is hidden,,

So any treks on the horizon? Since I myself have not been active enough I was thinking for something in the next few weeks if anyone is game let me know and we could do a meet or chat.

It's also a good day to check out that torn-up lot with the giant digger and the loads of dirt and the strange tarp covering what looks like an open cavity under the street. Which street? Only the dragon knows.

Checked out a drain last night, might be the one JP and Tanuki posted pictures of, in any case:
Entrance, Outfall, Dam Since this is the Tunnels thread, would anyone be adverse to starting a Victoria, B.C. draining thread?

Was the 'water' salty? Seems like quite a lot of runoff water, for the current weather. Unless it's from a year round creek... Nice work.

The dams keep the upper section relatively deep, but between the outfall and the metal barrier there is almost no water flow, it narrows "upstream" and takes a few twists in a short distance that make the line pretty interesting.
I will make my next drain post in a shiny new thread then, unless someone beats me to it

Wow. Its been a while since I've been on here! Still slinging shit at each other I see... Glad to see nothing's changed. I have a proposition... A history professor I know is interested in the tunnels and was wondering if I could pass on some contact information to him. He would love to hear what some of you know about them.
"...let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure." - Dumbledore
If any one's interested, there's a nice lady who stands on the corner of Government and Chatham late at night offering special services who can tell you a fascinating story concerning an unlocked hatch in an industrial lot just down the street from her 'office' that opens to reveal a wooden staircase, wrought iron fixtures such as hinges, handles, lamp hooks, etc. and extends to a basement of some long torn-down building. There's a hallway at the end of this basement that is very long and creepy and ragged with 100 years of ephemera, and that if you're careful and have a good sense of bearing, you can actually go from the unlocked hatch to Market Square to emerge in a gardening center.

All this talk of unlocked hatches and secret mysterious access points known only to these street people leaves me more than a little bit skeptical. I know how these people live, I work with them every day. The vast majority of people that live on the street do so because they are addicted or mentally ill or both. They are not people who have been "priced out of the Victoria housing market, forced to seek refuge in the dark, secret passages of Victoria". If there was in fact a "secret access point" where the street people of Victoria could go to 1. get out of the rain, 2. sleep, 3. do drugs 4. hide from tourists, 5. whatever else, it wouldn't be secret for long. Like any other area where they congregate, there would be people going in and out constantly at all hours, there would be garbage littered everywhere, there would be the usual assortment of fights and disagreements, cops would drop by every now and again, etc, etc. I don't understand how people think that a "secret tunnel access point" that nobody knows about would be any different than the newly abandoned building turned crack den, or that empty lot with the new hole in the fence allowing access. These people just have too many other things on thier minds besides gallantly guarding Victoria's history from out of town tourists. Call me skeptical.....

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too!
