This is grainy as hell, but I like it. I'm still learning. I don't know what I'm doing, so feedback is good.

A couple more:

I wanted the window to look almost too bright in this one, to sort of emphasize the divide between "in here" and "out there," if you know what I mean.

Camera is Canon S5 IS, and I'm thinking about doing the CHDK thing and all that but afraid of killing it. I have a lot to learn, so critique away, y'all.

1 - Was this an attempt at a bracket and blend? If so...you need to make sure the layer mask is way more even. Use the paint brush to get rid of all that dark shit on the inside wall.

2 - Subject is horrendously boring. Fill the frame! At the very least you need to get rid of that big dark bar at the top...that adds nothing to the shot. Also I think this would be better if it was shot from a point perpendicular to the window.

3 - Nice tone and framing. Well done.

Yeah, it was an *attempt* at bracket and blend. I'm still learning. Those shadows are in the real photo, though, although the bracket and blend sort of emphasized them. Here's the original shot:

I need to mess with it again when I have more time to get the hang of this bracket and blend stuff.

I was going for a psychological thing -- something that made the viewer feel closed-in and trapped. You're right, though, it needs to be cropped a little.

Sweet! Thanks! This one is my favorite of everything I shot that day.

I like this better.

Suggestions?

It looks better bigger -- some detail is lost at this size.

Do the CHDK thing its awesome and it won't kill your camera, its totally removable.

The bracketing feature it adds is nice if your camera doesn't already have it.
I put CHDK on my SX10is it already does bracketing but the longer exposure is really nice for night shots and light painting.

I also can vouch for CHDK, in that it won't kill your camera. It's stored on your SD card. I put it on my powershot A630 (may it rest in peace), and would LOVE to load it onto my new sx10is but they don't have a version for my firmware yet. le sigh.

Also in your OP your first image doesn't show up (on my computer anyway).

In other news, high five to Uzi for having the same camera as me. *five*

Cool. It's loaded and I'm checking it out right now. No earth shattering kaboom... my camera is fine. Yay!

Now I just have to learn how to use all this new stuff!

Muskratwombat -- deleted it from Flicker. Oops. It sucked anyway... the latter one is much better.

I Love my SX 10.

That sucks about the firmware though, is yours a newer or older version? I bought mine in feb. this year and had no trouble finding a good version of CHDK

No big. It's cool to read which cameras people are using.
