Looks like Allva and I might be heading up to the panhandle soon for another UE road trip.

After a little more scouting, I found a pretty big oversight on the part of the owners. They really should think about putting that chain-link fence on all four sides instead of three.

Or you could just squeeze through the 2 foot wide gap between the front gates... I drive 136 every day, stopped here a few times. Somewhat interesting but mostly vandalled to death. The people up here seem to have nothing better to do with their time. This place has been closed for 15 years or more apparently and is all beat to shit and anything loose has been stolen, but all the large machinery is still pretty much intact. I know an enormous rattle snake is rumoured to have been killed on this location and that several people have been caught cooking meth on the grounds. Maybe not the best place to get caught. Side note: I've never seen a cop on the stretch of highway between Fritch and Amarillo and I've been driving it every day for a year now.

Other then that place, there is Electric City, which is still a reserve power operation, but worth checking out if you want to deal with the risk. Plemmon's bridge is nice along with the baby graves and such if you have a tour guide to take you there, definately not somewhere I'd try to venture off to on my own. Or if you want to go balls to the wall you could just check out the Ex-town of Phillips, TX. ConocoPhillips frowns quite heavily on tresspassing in their refinery though .

I've heard the rumor about the rattlesnake as well, which is kind of why I was hoping to go in while it was still cold outside.
