A friend of mine in Japan has told me that her local paper reports that the island will be open for tourism in Spring, 2009. Unfortunately, and not surprisingly, it will only be a perimetre tour, and won't be inside the structures.

I heard something about a company wanting to capitalize on the island by setting up a tour group.
And yeah, it's going to be the lame walk around safety crap.

Perhaps that also means that the island won't be so well protected anymore.

In Japan, this would mean it would be more protected. But, I did read last week though the walkway will be perimeter-based, they are going to try and extend it as much as possible. No idea if this be true. Neko.

I just meant now you might not get deported if you go there at night? It was owned by Mitsubishi before, right?
