Ft. Scott Middle school for sale!

There's a huge old highschool in the middle of Ft. Scott and it's for sale apparently. I'm not sure why this school isn't being used and I have no idea who'd buy it - I really wanted to poke around inside but there really wasn't a chance. Maybe the next time I'm in the area I'll pretend like I want to buy the building and click some photos.

It's old schools and convents that are designed like this building that I always think would be sweet to buy and convert to like, an artist's retreat/commune. They're set up really well to be converted to living-quarters and have the potential to have a cool common area and usually a stage for performance pieces, etc.

You should use your idea and feign interest in buying it to try and get a look around, and get back here with your photos.

Agreed. It would be nice to see the inside of some of these buildings. Getting creative with entrance tactics might help.

That would be great!
My dad rented the old Cado High School 35 years ago and tried that but it never really panned out and he left it after a few years. That idea will see it's day.

you can't really see it but the "for sale" signs are the types that you pick up at the local Wal-Mart. The sign just had a phone number and that's it, so I have no idea who's selling the place. On the back end of the building there were a large amount of work going on in what was a relatively new gym or something. My brother and I looked through the windows and you could tell there had been work going on inside and it was relatively cleaned out. It'd be cool to walk around inside though. I'm just happy they're not tearing down the place, who knows what it will become - I'm thinking of the worlds largest Starbucks could go there and it could draw some yuppies into the area.

Thanks for the link! I can't believe he bought that whole building for 45 grand! Damn, I paid over 250 grand for my house and I could've bought an entire school. Maybe I'll buy that place and make it my own mansion/clubhouse.

That would be an awesome buy. I know some people out is western Oklahome that have bought an old school and turned it into their house. It's nice but a bitch to keep clean.

...the wings on my shoes shrank now the moths won't eat my kidneys, when i shake my state capital it only yields 3 fairy napkins, but how do i know my banana slippers are like water boats because when the moon winks it burns my hamster punches, and that's how you get to llama school rowing your canoe backwards up main street when the front bumper falls off, do mermaids get to drink orange juice?

It would have enough rooms that when one got trashed you just move all your stuff to another room and seal the old one. That way some UEers will show up one day and "discover" all your old trash.
