Shot the military junkyard in San Antonio this last full moon. Only got to spend about an hour there...thought I'd share the pix anyway though.

Very nice shots. I really like the colors in shots with old machinery like that. Would love to see old military equipment like that. Cool stuff.

Very nice indeed! You have a knack for making ordinary stuff look super cool.

Is the Blue/Green/Orange panel light-painted, or is that how it actually is?

The most interesting piece of government hardware that I recall is the "Defruiter". It's something that's used in an airport radar. I have no idea what it looks like, but my dad was an electronics tech for the FAA, and one of the schematics he brought home was a "defruiter". I was very happy, because I was like 5 years old, and I hoped it was a device to remove fruit from JELL-O. I *hated* fruit in Jello!

(sry, that was totally random, wasn't it?)

these are nice, but 3 and 5 are my favorite.

Thanks Robert; yes, the colors in this image are completely natural...all I used was a xenon flashlight to paint the scene.

Cool!
Maybe there's one of those hyperdrives like in My Science Project.

I'm a blatant waste of time and resources.

great pix, love the colours!

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

makes you kinda wonder, just what was all that equipment used for¿

...the wings on my shoes shrank now the moths won't eat my kidneys, when i shake my state capital it only yields 3 fairy napkins, but how do i know my banana slippers are like water boats because when the moon winks it burns my hamster punches, and that's how you get to llama school rowing your canoe backwards up main street when the front bumper falls off, do mermaids get to drink orange juice?

Correct...from what I could tell my examining it, it appeared to be a radar simulator, as it had a whole simulation control section to it.

For those curious. here's a bit about the other devices, by shot #:

2. Supposed to be a device attached to jet engines when being tested, to keep random stuff from getting sucked in.

3. Based on the gauges and labeling, this was some sort of fuel flow control cart, probably for fueling jets.

4. There were 4 words stenciled at the top left corner of this unit; the first word was too worn to read for sure, but I think it was "Gasket". The other 3 words were "sensor test stand", so this could be some sort of Gasket Sensor Test Stand. Seems kinda obscure, but I guess if the shuttle Challenger taught us anything, we need to test our gaskets!

5. Not sure what this was used for but most of the gear in this rack unit were either labeled as 'power management" or "spectrum analysis".

6. This was a cart for testing gyros, probably in aircraft, hence the mobile platform.

Well, this place isn't abandoned per se; it's just a dumping ground for disused equipment from the various military bases in the SA area, i.e., Lackland AFB, Fort Sam Houston, Randolph AFB, etc.

Thanks! Yeah, that's what I thought too when I was scoping it in advance, but it seemed pretty well abandoned once I was actually there.
