Austin power plant pictures

Hey all. Its been a while since i've posted, but I figure better late than never. Some of these pictures were taken during our scouting of the area, and others were taken with our local meetup exploration group. If anyone wants a tour of this place, PM me and I'll be glad to show them. These photos really dont show how huge the place really is.

pretty cool and I love the shots. But really its not a good idea to post your self portrait. Looks like a hellova lot of fun but just for your own benifit at least censor out your eyes.

Keep up the Austin 'splorin!!

No, but if you are in a publicized location its just not a good idea.

Here are all the pictures we took. Let me know which ones you like and more importantly, let me know if this worked.

I love the "wheel" picture. And did you ever get that skinny door open that you were hanging out over the edge to get to?

And I would agree with Kooda, this is a publicly viewable posting. If you feel comfortable with your ID out there, then I salute you. I'm not comfortable with my ugly mug getting out. People here know me and that's ok (they still cringe when they look at me) but I certainly don't want to give the DA any help prosecuting me.. LOL I get in enough trouble as it is.

I was about to give you props for the facts on this place, then I saw it in the picture. It made me glad I read for once. =)

Some cool pics in this set, the only thing is some of them are tilted 90 degrees and that fucks with my head... or may its the vodka doing it.

40+ year olds with Myspace pages are not cool, they are pediphiles on the prowl. Buyer beware.

Thanks for all the comments guys. To answer your question about that door leading to nothing, we couldn't open it as it was welded shut or bolted shut (I cant remember) from the other side, though we could just walk around to the other side of that door. The creepy thing was that you could hop down into what we all called "The Interrogation Room" It was a small room with a floor drain and a little chair. It was one of two little chairs placed in odd places. We all thought it was kinda creepy

place sounds pretty active....

The Blue Lapis light aerial dance company is having a month long performance titled 'Illumination' at Austin's historic Seaholm Power Plant. The former Austin electrical power plant has been out of commission for years, now gutted and transformed into an industrial Cathedral reminiscent of the Cystine Chapel. The last site specific show 'Requiem' was performed on the now imploded Intel building you see on my splash page. This should be an amazing show, check the videos on the site and go take your girfriend there. I am! Tickets here. Show opens on thursday 4th. (Photo shot from rehearsal and feature published in this weeks Austin Chronicle, thanks dudes!

Sorry I don't have any exterior or really good roof shots. Keep in mind that we were a rather large group (6) and we wanted to keep outside flash to a minimum. As for the inside, most of the equipment had been completely removed. I saw an incinerator and a room that I wanted to check out, but unfortunately wasn't able to repel down into it. Come and visit and maybe we can get those pics?

The events they hold are on the ground level. Its some sort of dancing thing as far as I can tell, there is a wooden stage and thats about it. I know they also have light shows but I dont know if its on the outside of the place or inside.

Good job, i especially like that picture of the bird carcass, it kinda reminds me of cave paintings.
And to nomeus, the picture of the plant with the off-color was very well done.
