My first find!
entry by Amirkat

Hi! I'm Kitty, 26, Taurus (LOL)...and yeah, I'm a rookie! I live deep in the Texas Hill Country (the BEST part of Texas!!) I've always had an interest in UE, but have only recently begun to explore my area. I have found many interesting places around here, things I never knew existed. And I've lived here my entire life! Much of it seems to have some sort of an eerie past, many places are considered to be haunted. Ghost hunting, also another love of mine, pretty much goes hand-in-hand with UE in these parts. Gotta love the thrill!!

For my first journal, I wanted to share my first exploration...and abandoned pump station. This is not the kind with a tiny store a two small gas pumps. No! This is a petroleum pump station! It's in really great shape, not even a stitch of graffiti...actually I'm pretty sure no one's been in there for YEARS!

I am not sure on a lot of the history (yet), but I am digging up as much as I can (will post a 'part two' to this journal once I learn more!) I believe, based on the earliest dates found, the pump station (owned by Texaco) was in operation from about 1955-1975 (?). Many of the pipelines here in Texas were installed prior to the 1950's. Crude oil, natural gas and other hazardous liquids were carried through these lines. Many of them are still active today, except this one. Much of my prelim research on this site has stated that this station is still active. T4 Permits and P5 Operator numbers must be turned in every year. This has been done for this pump station...but the doors are welded shut! literally! I had to climb through a small window and unlock the one door that was not welded! Besides, the latest dates we can find (2 calenders in the office) say 1993! So who's been turning in the P5 an T4 from 93-present?

This is the main office...everything has been left...plans, files and even the radio!

The inside of the pump station itself was neat! All of the equipment was still in place, the pump engines, spare parts, employee manuals...just some great stuff!

This one is awesome! Look at the size of this hand tool! That's the tip of my foot on the right hand side...I only wear a size 8 shoe to give you an idea how big of a wrench that is!

I will leave you with these last images...just random stuff. Please note that all pictures with a time stamp are MY pictures...sorry for the TS, I borrowed the camera from work! All the pictures without a time stamp were taken by a friend on the same trip. Thank you for reading my first journal. I appreciate any and ALL comments. *CHOW*
