New Orleans hospitals

Anybody try hitting any of these? There are like four closed down hospitals in NOLA, pretty much all of which are drool-worthy at least from the outside. Security seems tight during the day but these places are so sexy I'm just dying to get into at least one of them.

Ochsner has taken over most of the hospitals.

Meadowcrest on the Westbank has been in operation as Ochsner for several months now. Meadowcrest didn't take any storm damage, but the place was ransacked, looted and vandalized severely.

Memorial on Napoleon Avenue off of Claiborne is in the process of being taken over by Ochsner. Work is being done there now. I do business with a Medical Record company that is about to resume operations there, so I guess they're about to open.

Mercy Hospital (was also known as Baptist or Mercy-Baptist...then Lindy Boggs Medical Center) on S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy. & Bienville St. was supposed to be taken over by Ochsner, but I haven't been out that way in over a year, so I have no idea what's happening with that.

Methodist out in New Orleans East would probably be the best candidate for complete abandonment, since that area flooded so badly. I really have no idea what's happening out there though.

I bet the entire gulf coast is ripe for exploring. My father in-law who lives down there is always telling us about all the buildings from Ocean Springs to Waveland that are condemned

We are heading down the the coast jan 08 and cant wait to see all of the goods.

40+ year olds with Myspace pages are not cool, they are pediphiles on the prowl. Buyer beware.

Both seemed empty (except for security) when I checked them out recently. Methodist actually looked like it was in pretty good shape, but Mercy and Charity (downtown on Tulane) looked pretty beat up.

Charity was in pretty bad shape. I know LSU and Tulane Medical Centers are back in operation.

Mercy flooded pretty bad. Water came up about 6-8 feet in houses in the neighboring area.

Methodist only had water in the "basement"...there was a lot of media coverage about a bunch of elderly patients that were left down there to drown. The basement floor is actually only a foot or two below street level which is pretty stupid since the hospital is at or slightly below sea-level so the water table is only a few inches under the street level at any given time.
