i will be in austin tx in the next few weeks and my girlfriend and i love going to check out places that are said to be haunted. the only place we have heard of that is close by where we will be is tuckers cemetery. if there are any other places that anyone can think of we would love to hear about it. thanks.

Check out the Driskill hotel on 6th. It's the most hauntedest in Texas.
There's also a ghost tour you can buy tickets for here.

PS: UER is not for the most part a ghost related website. You might be ridiculed for showing us "orb" pictures.

If you have some time, you might consider coming into town via US 79. I don't know from ghosts, but when I drove from Austin to Buffalo (on I-45), I saw several interesting UE sites. One was an old cotton gin that looked like it might collapse at any point -- good times, right? I can't remember which town it was in, though -- I want to say Rockdale or Hearne, or somewhere in between.

I do remember for sure that Rockdale had a whole bunch of small motels that looked like they would make a great base of operations. Homey looking places with lace in the windows, where the owners are probably some retired couple. It would sure beat Motel 6.

One thing to watch out for. I saw more dead skunks on that stretch of road than I ever have in one trip. Be careful driving at night, or your friends in Austin will smell you coming.

And if you really are into ghosts and have any chance of visiting DFW, try Waxahachie's Rogers Hotel. Way cool place, orbs or not.

I'm going to be down there too in a week or so. What side of town has the oldest abandonments?

Orb watch:
Haunted Catfish Plantation restaurant in Waxahachie for sale

Catfish Plantation's legend almost ended, however, when fire struck in 2003. Investigators suspected vent grease was ignited by a spark from the vent fan motor or a stray cigarette. The Bakers rebuilt, but not without the fire adding to the restaurant's lore.

A photo taken by fire marshals during the blaze intrigued Waxahachie Fire Chief David Hudgins.

Unnoticed at the time the picture was taken, a milky haze appeared inside a front window. Chief Hudgins thought it appeared otherworldly, different from the smoke that filled the building as the roof caved in from the attic fire.

"It appeared to be the size of a person, but not in human form," he recalled. "It was bright -- it was like a white glow."

The picture naturally aroused skepticism at the Fire Department.

"It just didn't look normal, and that's why I brought it down to Melissa and Tom," Chief Hudgins said. "I've never seen a ghost, but am I going to say it's impossible? No, I'm not. I think it is possible."

Doesn't surprise me. I worked there in high school. I didn't know Melissa wanted to sell.
